SOCAR Midstream Gas Operations LLC was established in April 2025 as an affiliate of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR). Our company was founded on the basis of, and as the legal successor to, SOCAR Midstream Operations LLC, which had been operating since the first quarter of 2015.
SOCAR Midstream Gas Operations assumes all rights and obligations of its predecessor in the areas of gas transportation, gas storage, and related infrastructure. We are entrusted with wide-ranging responsibilities, including but not limited to: representing the strategic shareholding rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan, managing operational functions and interests in domestic and international gas export pipelines and facilities, and ensuring the unified and efficient organization of gas project management activities.
SOCAR Midstream Gas Operations delivers these responsibilities by leveraging advanced international expertise and best practices in the midstream sector.
Key functions and activities include:
• Acts as the Commercial Operator (since 2015) and Technical Operator (since 2021) of the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), which is managed by the South Caucasus Pipeline Company Limited (SCPC);
• Provides shareholder representation functions to the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) projects;
• Implemented the Detailed Engineering Design and Construction Phase for the Iğdır-Nakhchivan Gas Pipeline Project;
• Project Management for the Nakhchivan Thermal Power Plant Project;
• Plays a key role in addressing and coordinating matters of strategic importance by developing an export strategy that sets short, mid, and long-term goals for efficient and sustainable transit of resources, as well as implementing and coordinating actions arising from this strategy.
SOCAR Midstream Gas Operations maintains a strategic presence in Georgia through its Georgian Branch, which plays a vital role in regional operations and is an integral part of the SCP system - one of the region’s key gas transit corridors.
Our Georgian Branch is responsible for the safe and reliable day-to-day operation of the SCP facilities across the country. Its core functions include operational planning, maintenance and integrity management, compliance with local legal and regulatory requirements, stakeholder and community engagement, and providing essential support services for gas transportation. Its mandate includes ensuring the uninterrupted transit of natural gas from the Caspian region to regional and European markets, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental protection, and operational excellence.
