Bringing world-class academic knowledge closer to Azerbaijan’s universities and research community, SOCAR and its partners in the South Caucasus Pipeline Company (SCPC) have funded and closely overseen the translation and publication of a series of internationally acclaimed scientific textbooks from English into Azerbaijani.
The project was launched following evidence-based proposals from universities and industry experts, including leading professors and academic departments, who identified an urgent shortage of modern, high-quality academic materials in Azerbaijani. Each proposed title was assessed on its potential to address the most critical learning gaps, evaluating relevance to national academic programs, applicability to industry needs, the size of the student audience, and the long-term benefits for professional development. The rationale behind the project is rooted in three priorities: 1. Supplying up-to-date, globally recognized academic content to complement and enrich existing teaching materials. 2. Giving Azerbaijani-speaking students and educators the opportunity to benefit from the same learning standards as their peers abroad. 3. Equipping graduates and researchers with knowledge and skills aligned to modern scientific and professional standards, enabling them to contribute effectively to industry and academia.
The translations were implemented by a range of partner organizations, including Azerbaijan Technical University, UNEC, TEAS Press, Global TFD, DESS, Habitat Translation, and Lean Consulting, with the active involvement of local university professors and professional translators. Each book underwent rigorous scientific and literary editing and proofreading, followed by professional layout and design, to ensure both academic accuracy and reader accessibility. Printed copies have been distributed free of charge to libraries, universities, and educational and scientific institutions nationwide.
