Recognizing the importance of youth in shaping Azerbaijan’s international image, SOCAR and its partners in the South Caucasus Pipeline Company (SCPC) funded a capacity-building program designed to equip young Azerbaijani youth leaders with the tools to engage effectively in the digital and diplomatic spheres. The program was implemented by ADA University and trained 50 youth leaders from across the country.
This initiative responded to the growing global need for youth to possess a blend of historical awareness, policy understanding, and digital communication skills. In an age where narratives are shaped in real time on social media and open-source platforms, it is critical that young people are able to engage thoughtfully, advocate responsibly, and represent their country with clarity and confidence.
The training focused on advanced social media skills, Azerbaijan’s modern history, and its foreign policy priorities. Participants were nominated through an open call and included members from leading youth organizations such as ASAP, İrəli, ATGTI, YAP Youth Union, ICYF-ERC, NAYORA, NAM Youth Union, ASAN Volunteers, and the ADA Student Government, with a strong emphasis on gender balance.
Expert-led sessions combined lectures, simulations, practical exercises, and group discussions, strengthening participants’ ability to communicate Azerbaijan’s realities to global audiences across traditional and digital platforms, including Wikipedia, Twitter, Quora, Youtube and others. The program also encouraged coordinated youth engagement in promoting accurate, evidence-based perspectives internationally.
